"Flight Behavior" by Barbara Kingsolver

                          Barbara Kingsolver's latest book is very clearly about the environment.

                                                

I really love Barbara Kingsolver's writing ability.  Her characters are so fascinating.  And this book is no exception.
 Dellarobia is fascinating as an unhappy, frustrated, isolated farm wife: "Her life in this little house had felt to her like confinement in a sinking vehicle after driving off a bridge.  To open a hatch and swim away felt miraculous".  And swim away she did!
But...couldn't Barbara make her environmental message a little more discreet,
 with less complex science involved? 
 And please..a better cover!  This one is deadly boring!

    Another very interesting book we read was Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin. We read different translations. To our delight we found that when we each read an excerpt from a particular translator the rythm of the poem was the same; beautiful.

    Another book we read that had the darkest story I think I've ever read was Sailor Who Fell From Grace by Sea-Mishima. However, I started to read a Stephen King novel when it 1st came out and quit after the 1st story b/c I felt it was dark & sick and unnecessary in my life.
